January saw the return of our ever-popular Sounding Board event, allowing attendees to share and request feedback on issues in their businesses.Facilitated by Jenny Matthews of Opia Good Thinking, delegates work in small groups, learning about each other's skills, and requesting help on a specific areas of their business.  Each person in the group receives feedback and suggestions, based on the experience, knowledge or point of view of the other people in that group.  Delegates come away with a fabulous pool of ideas and knowledge that they can then implement in some way…

Happy Anniversary

Developing ideas through play

We had a fun session in June with Catherine Wilks from InMovement.We were all invited to 'loosen up' a little and to take off our 'expert hats' for the session, enabling us to think differently.After some interesting ways of moving around the room, some dancing and of course lots of laughter, the delegates recognised that by taking certain elements from other successful businesses, and by constantly changing and developing their own ideas, excellent progress can follow.Also, that we shouldn't be afraid to allow ourselves time to play once in a while!"The workshop with Catherine was great…

HMRC offers sole traders webinars on first tax returns HM Revenue and Customs is offering free online webinars to sole traders who are filing a tax return online for the first time. Summer Social evening

This was always going to be a good evening at the Bean and Brush in Sale as it didn't rain!There  was plenty of taking going among the members catching up with old friends and meeting new friends.  We heard the story of Clippy Mckenna who lives locally and has built up a business supply preserves typically based on apples into supermarkets across the UK and now moving into exporting.  Great to hear a success story and Clippy gave us an honest account of how she built her business…
